Thank you for choosing Indira Mahavidyalaya, Kalamb. For the noble cause of education, our visionary leader late Dr. Bhau Mandavkar established a public trust named Dr. Yashvant Moreshwar Donde Sarwajanik Shaikshanik Trust, Kalamb in 1974. He started a junior and senior college named ‘Indira Mahavidyalaya’ in 1983 with Arts and Commerce faculty. Science faculty was started in 2009. Now we are having all three faculties in UG. The number of programmes offered by our college are 13 UG level, 5 PG level, 3 Ph.D. research centres and 27 certificate courses.

UG level programmes include B.A., B.Com. and B.Sc. PG level programmes include M.A. in Marathi, M.A. in Geography, M.A. in Economics, M.Com. and M.Sc. in Chemistry. There are 3 Ph.D. Centres in Marathi, Chemistry and Physics.

Our institution has rich history of creating education opportunities for four decades. Our visionary leader late Dr. Bhau Mandavkar founder president of the institution, offered the higher education to the people of this rural, tribal and undeveloped area with open - access system, irrespective of caste, colour, creed & academic performance in earlier years.

This is a Private, Grant-in-aid and Self-Financing institute. Arts and Commerce faculty with Ph.D. research centres having permanent affiliation from Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University and temporary affiliation for B.Sc. and PG courses. Institute is recognized under 2 f and 12 (B) of UGC act.

Our college is committed to give a solid foundation in a nurturing environment, one that will allow their natural gifts to unfold and make learning a pleasurable experience. We constantly work to develop a sense of discipline and good moral character, where all students are expected to conform to high disciplinary standards and to develop values of tolerance, fair play, compassion, integrity, and fortitude. We strive to provide education that explores, challenges, and grooms every aspect of the student’s personality. While we are determined to provide seamless learning targeted towards excellent academic performance through the incorporation of the latest teaching approaches, we also ensure that we are actively working on the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual training of our students. We focus on contextual learning based on a constructivist theory of teaching & learning to provide techniques such as problem-solving, learning by doing & inquiry-based learning activities. Our teachers help students to test their ideas, draw conclusions & inferences in a collaborative learning environment which transforms the students to become active participants in the learning process.

Our teachers are professionally equipped to develop adapt and modify curriculum content, pedagogy & assessment which suit the needs and aspirations of our students. We work towards a holistic, experiential, integrated, student-centered educational system that helps to improve the creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills of our young learners to equip them for the ever-changing employment dynamics and global ecosystems.
